The Mission
Eng Hiring is a software engineering talent agency with an ambitious mission: Improve the way software engineers are hired.
Traditional software engineer hiring has broken for some time. Companies waste hours screening candidates who can't code, while talented engineers endure low-signal interviews at every company they apply to. We're here to fix that.
With the advent of generative AI tools, the current methodologies have been thrown into complete disarray. It is an opportune time to innovate on the hiring process.
Our Philosophy
We don't believe in gotcha questions or algorithmic puzzles that have little to do with actual software development. Our interviews are designed to assess how candidates approach real problems they'd encounter on the job.
Who We Are
Eng Hiring was founded by Amogh Kambale. We are a team of ex-Square (Block) engineers and recruiters. We've dedicated thousands of hours to engineering hiring and have seen firsthand what works and what doesn't.
Our experience includes:
- Writing and refining coding interview questions that give clear hiring signal
- Conducting hundreds of technical interviews across all experience levels
- Training interviewers and calibrating teams to make consistent, fair evaluations
- Building and improving hiring processes for multiple engineering disciplines
Through all of this, we've developed strong opinions about what makes a good interview. The best interviews feel like collaborative problem-solving sessions, not interrogations. They give candidates room to demonstrate their thinking and recover from missteps. And they measure skills that actually matter for the job.
We started Eng Hiring to put these principles into practice and help companies find great engineers faster, without the usual pain.
